Tsikna-Thursday
by Christos Kazilas
History
TsiknaThursday is a very ancient tradition originated from the era of Homer.
It comes from the old tradition that lasts until today, of the preparation of the sacred dinner in honor of the dead of each family.
Tradition
60 days before Easter, in the Orthodox Church starts a season called Triodion.
The first 10 days are full of joy, jokes and of course food. The 10th day is dedicated to the dead people of each family.
Feast
Like ancient Greeks, who prepared very often such special dinners, the celebration starts with the necessary preparations 2 days before, in TsiknaThursday, in which women from every family cook foods for that dinner and men roast meat.

That day we had an online event with our partners from Italy (so we had enough time to collaborate and plane about the project during that special day ) In addition that was an excellent way to share with them our school's tradition to bake and dance traditional dances. We let our italian partners be part of our fest watching us on camera!
In the video you can hear and see a few seconds of a dance with traditional music from greek islands!
