REFUGEES...

We face it... We did not plane it at first. It occured...

We can not ignore it... We explore it...

We let Math Investigation introduce the similarities about

the common refugees' issue for Greece and Italy

in  Greece and Italy

Activity 1

Teachers as adults  have  been to cry in front of their children for much less, much more insignificant. Students as older brothers or just friends have been to cry in front of a younger child for much less and much more easily than the absolute fear, the absolute misery and the absolute gap facing this uprooted man.

"WE CAN NOT IGNORE IT"

This picture was the prompt for our etwinning Math Investigation team to add some new activities in the scheduled ones  .

Anyway this project is about to find the hidden math around us. Education for Refugees children is going to be dealed up as a priority. We will  face it  more  and more , day by day. We talked and finaly we found good idea to search in the internet about numbers and and trustful eviedences that we can use to make graphs and use Statistic to visualize and present. We decided to use the evidences for Greece and Italy from  the links of unhcr

So we made graphs using EXCEL to compare the data we had.

Activity No1

What makes us human is that we can feel how other people feel.
As this father who bursts into tears while giving food to the child who comforted him.

Aeneas carries his family out of the burning Troy.
Shoulder carrying his father, Anchises.

RIGHT

A new AENEAS carries his family to a safe place...

There is a myth that connects the two teams.

Greece and Italy share the myth of Aeneas. During the Math Investigation about statistics and refugees we faced the similarities of these  two photos. When we started the collaboration in the early of October, we could not imagine that there are so many things that connect the two teams. Past, history, mythology, religious, the Europe, the meditereanean Sea... There are so many hidden similarities in these obvious

The myth

Aeneas took part in the Trojan War and was the bravest hero in the side after Hector.Fighting in the Trojan War with Diomedes, Aeneas was saved only thanks to the protection of his mother Venus and Apollo, who moved to Pergamus for recovery, while in conflict with Achilles saved the god Neptune.

After the capture and sack of Troy, Aeneas with some Trojans (which became known as "aeneads") continued to defend in a district of the city, until their Achaeans apologies that accept the "ypospondous" ie upon agreement to leave undisturbed, with permission to take each of them what could lift his hands from his property. And while all others were filled and took sacks of gold, silver, jewelry, money, etc., Aeneas bore on his shoulders the elder and helpless father, Anchises, and carried him out of town. Then the Achaeans, admiring the practice of it, allowed him to get free and everything else he wanted from their house. But he still did not chose anything from the sacred idols of gods and family heirlooms, that he considered superior to any other treasure. Many times risked for the sake of his parents and to piety towards the gods. After that, the Achaeans was told that he was willing to cede any part of Troy wanted to live there safely.
Aeneas recounts to Dido related to the fall of Troy. Painting of Pierre-Narcisse Guérin.

At this point it continues later and Roman tradition, which says that Aeneas refused the offer and, fleeing from Troy, passing from Carthage (see. Dido) and Sicily, settled in Italy. There was that his grandchildren built Rome, and in particular children and the daughter of Romulus.

“By welcoming the team of Refugee Olympic Athletes to the Olympic Games Rio 2016, we want to send a message of hope for all refugees in our world,” said IOC President Thomas Bach. “Having no national team to belong to, having no flag to march behind, having no national anthem to be played, these refugee athletes will be welcomed to the Olympic Games with the Olympic flag and with the Olympic Anthem. They will have a home together with all the other 11,000 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees in the Olympic Village.”

ART about  refugees/migrants

Bruno Catalano,
Ο Μετανάστης
The sculptures are the work of Bruno Catalano and might look like they're missing vital organs

The sculpture depicts the sense of be forced to  leave your native country to live in a foreign one in the best way.

It is like the heart and soul was left behind in the home country of the migrant and traveled only body parts that will be needed to work in a foreign  country.

Mr Catalano, 53, is originally from Morocco but a lifetime of travel as a sailor has inspired these quirky pieces of art, which often cause passers-by to do a double-take

Mr Catalano said: 'I have travelled a lot and I left Morocco when I was 12 years old. I felt that a part of me was gone and will never come back.'From years of being a sailor, I was always leaving different countries and places each time and it's a process that we all go through

I feel like this occurs several times during life and of course everyone has missing pieces in his or her life that he wont find again.

Mr Catalano has been sculpting for 20 years and often works with others in an art foundry when making big sculptures.

MUSIC...

Music  as a kind of art, express the feelings when words are pure for great emotions ....

Lyrics and notes...

mixed in a unique way ...

The tears and the voice of the refugee will reach in the deepest  side of our heart...

We can not forget these tears and this voice

Honoring the memory of all those who have failed to pass the Aegean Sea in an attempt to seek a better life in Europe.

A strong message to Europe's politicians about the need of the prevalence of peace in Middle East and the awareness of everybody about the drama of the refugees who are trapped in Greece was the common presence of Francis Pope and the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, together with the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Hieronymus. They visited the Hotspot in Lesvos and chatted with refugees. They also honored the memory of all those who have failed to pass the Aegean Sea in an attempt to seek a better life in Europe.
